Mother's Day
Posted by Lizzie Mungham on
With just a week left till Mother's Day - are you ready?
Buying a gift for Mum can seem a little daunting - I don't know about you, but my Mum deserves - as a bare minimum - 6 months at the Ritz Hotel, where she can relax while someone else does all the work. Unfortunately, that's a little out of my budget right now, but I've put together a few more realistic gift ideas for Mother's Day.
Candles are always a good idea. Mother's Day is always surrounded by lots of Spring-like imagery, especially flowers and cute animals, but this year we're still in the very depths of winter. Candles bridge this gap nicely - in snowy weather there's nothing more cosy than a flickering candle, but Yankee Candle have chosen more summery scents for March's Fragrance of the Month - Black Coconut and Vanilla, to remind Mum's that Spring and Summer really are just around the corner. Even if it doesn't seem like that at the moment!
All Yankee Candle Fragrance of the Month scents are 25% off - so the medium jar size is now only £15.99 down from £19.99
If you like your candles a little less serious, check out our new stand of Bomb Cosmetics' piped candles. The same amazing quality of scents that we've come to expect from Bomb's bath mallows and melts - using the best essential oils – but in Bomb’s distinctive presentation style. Piped candles are topped with a swirl of scented wax frosting and dusted with glitter. Scents include Pink Bubbly, Pina Colada, Lemon Drop and more.
All Bomb Piped candles are only £8.99 and burn for 30-35 hours.
Chocolate is the classic indulgence - and again we can help, pick out a gift wrapped box of 6 chocolates for £5.99, 12 for £10.99 or really spoil her with 24 for £21.99. Current flavours include Hot Chocolate, Jaffa Cake and Tiramisu.
For something cute but practical, we have Warmies on sale for 20% off. Pop these cute and cuddly characters in the microwave for a few seconds and they will come out warm and giving off a soothing lavender scent to help Mum relax or to sooth aching muscles. See our collection online here or in our Bedale shop.
Subscription boxes have been popular for a few years now. While they can be a pricey gifting option, they are a gift that keeps on giving. Some of the most popular include Birchbox, Pact Coffee and Bloom and Wild but there are many more out there. How about books in the post from the Willoughby Book Club or a monthly delivery of cheese from The Cheese Society.
Creation Express are one of our favourite brands, beautiful personalised gifts ready in minutes. Items can be ordered online here and picked up in your nearest supplier, or come straight to Nickery Nook and our staff can help you pick, arrange and print items while you wait.
If material goodies aren't your Mum's style, or your bank balance is looking a little fragile, why not give her the gift of your time instead.
Recipes from Jane's Patisserie are always a massive hit in our house. Why not try a classic like buttery scones. Sweet waffles would make a lovely breakfast in bed or part of a continental brunch, especially topped with fruit. Or how about this amazing looking Bailey's cake if you're feeling adventurous?
To turn your baking into an indulgent afternoon tea just add some mismatched crockery, some finger sandwiches and a glass of cold Prosecco.
Alternatively, some help around the house or garden never goes amiss. How about printing Mum vouchers she can cash in for chores – an afternoon of ironing, dinner cooked, a week’s worth of meals planned and shopped for. You can find ready-made coupons like these online so all you need to do is print them and staple them together.
However you spoil your Mum this Mother's Day we've got the perfect card to help you express how much she means to you. See our full collection here. Or check out our favourites below. Delivery is only £1 on orders under £5 in the UK.
