Just to Say.... cards
Even with so many ways to keep in touch nowadays, there's still something a bit magical about receiving letter or a card in the post. Turning it over, looking for a sender's name. Do you recognise the handwriting? Did you forget your own Birthday (unlikely), could it be FINALLY, 20-years-too-late the long awaited Hogwarts acceptance letter (still waiting!)?
A letter through the post means time and effort spent just for you. It tells the receiver that they are loved. Most of us remember to send cards for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings and big celebrations, but how about letting someone know, "I'm thinking of you" or "you're not alone". When we have so many commitments and distractions in life it is so easy to overlook how much the personal touch from handwritten notes and carefully chosen cards can mean, especially to those we know are feeling lonely or isolated. A card with a beautiful garden scene stood on the mantelpiece doesn't just cheer up a dark room, it brightens a soul too.
